Public Tally collects only the information needed to respond to inquiries, process orders, and improve the source-backed reports we provide to civic vendors.
Information we collect
Contact details you submit, including name, work email, company, and message content.
Order and payment status from Stripe. Payment card details are handled by Stripe and are not stored by Public Tally.
Basic site analytics and request metadata, such as pages visited, browser type, device type, and approximate location derived from IP address.
How we use information
To answer requests, deliver paid reports, operate checkout, prevent abuse, and improve Public Tally's product and outreach.
To send service messages about an inquiry, report, subscription, invoice, or account relationship.
To comply with legal, tax, accounting, security, and contractual obligations.
Sharing
We use service providers, including hosting, analytics, email, and payment processors, to operate the service.
We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a business transfer.
Public sources
Public Tally reports rely on publicly available records and source links. Report evidence may include public agency names, websites, meeting materials, procurement pages, accessibility notices, and related business context.
Public-record source evidence, correction notes, stale-source decisions, and removal audit history may be retained to explain buyer-facing insights and support source disputes.
Retention and export
Customer order, entitlement, support, API, and MCP access metadata is retained only as needed for service delivery, security, billing, accounting, dispute handling, abuse prevention, and legal obligations.
Customer export requests cover the requesting customer's own order context, entitled report/export history, API key metadata, and source-backed evidence trails. We do not export another customer's records or access logs.
Raw bearer tokens, card data, other customers' data, privileged legal notes, and internal security notes are excluded from customer exports.
